Situated in the heart of Langford, The Kentwood is a thoughtfully designed six-storey multi-residential building providing 167 rental units to the community. At the core of the architectural approach is the use of pre-fabricated structural wood assemblies, including Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) floor and roof systems. This mass-timber framework is most visible on the sixth floor, where vaulted ceilings and loft-style layouts take advantage of the material’s unique capabilities to create airy, expansive living volumes. Pictou Beeches is a 27-unit co-operative housing project on the harbour in Pictou, Nova Scotia. The development offers a variety of unit sizes, with a high proportion of family-sized homes and select units designed for full accessibility. Distinct from most buildings that reserve the best views for private units, Pictou Beeches is oriented so that common areas enjoy the waterfront, allowing all residents to share in the scenic harbour landscape.
